Make your ‘Ways to Play’ adventure a great value day out by travelling to our venues by the Metro and / or Ferry.
Up to three children aged 11 and under can travel for free on the Metro and the Shields Ferry with a fare-paying adult. Metro is the convenient, fast and frequent way to get to your favourite attractions and now it’s even more affordable. Find out more.
About
We have two weeks of holiday fun at the Great North Museum: Hancock. Join us for a collection of crafts in week one, and then returning for the second year in a row, we have the outstanding Newcastle Puppetry Festival during week two of the holidays.

Time Odyssey: A Family Adventure
A new interactive learning experience which takes families on a quest through the museum. Free, booking required.
Relaxed Early Opening
Enjoy early access to the Great North Museum: Hancock for a quieter, more relaxed experience. From 9-10am. Free, booking required.

Sculpture Session
The research team from the Blood and Transplant Research Unit at Newcastle University invite you to take part in a meaningful object sculpture session. Based on their Journeys exhibition they invite you to craft an object that has a particular significance to you. Free. No booking is required.

Make an Easter Bunny Puppet
Make an Easter bunny puppet and get ready for the spectacular 2025 Puppet Festival. Join some of the Great North Museum: Hancock team to make your own Easter bunny puppet to take home with you. Why not take your bunny puppet with you to the Newcastle Puppetry Festival parade on Saturday 19 April! Free. No booking is required.
