Meet Dan Gordon
Keeper of Biology
As Keeper of Biology I look after the Great North Museum’s Natural Science collections. This is a large and diverse range of material, from molluscs and marine invertebrates to taxidermy, herbaria and insects. Working with such a variety of specimens has allowed me to develop a range of knowledge and interests. Some of my current work includes the Brady collection of Ostracods and the museum’s African mammal collections.
I have extensive experience of curating permanent displays and temporary exhibitions, including exhibition lead for Spineless – the incredible world of invertebrates and Bones – Skeleton secrets of the animal world.
