Meet Andy Agate

Finds Liaison Officer

Andy Agate is the Finds Liaison Officer for the Portable Antiquities Scheme at the GNM. He works as a finds identification specialist within the archaeology team. His background is in field archaeology, excavating in Britain and abroad. He is currently co-director of the Lufton Roman Villa excavation project. Andy is also a Visiting Fellow at Newcastle University where he occasionally teaches undergraduates. Andy has published excavation reports e.g. Early medieval settlement at Mothecombe, Devon: the interaction of local, regional and long-distance dynamics (2012) and his academic study on early medieval suburbs ‘Aspects of Suburban Settlement at Early Urban Centres in England’ (2013).
