Wonder Wednesdays: Patterned PlanetBook for Teakisi workshop
For the fourth week of the summer holidays we are exploring our world through patterns and fabric.
Wednesday 17 August
11am - 3pm.
Other activities are drop in.
Make and Take
For the fourth week of the summer holidays we are exploring our world through patterns and fabric. There will be a drop in craft to decorate the whole floor of a room with patterns from different cultures around the world. Will you choose a bright bold geometric pattern inspired by traditional fabrics from Africa or perhaps a blossom pattern inspired by traditional Japanese fabrics. The colourful combinations will come together a beautiful masterpiece that takes inspiration from all over the world.
We also have a very special activity that has limited spaces, pre-booking is essential for this. Working with our friends at Teakisi you will be guided by a textile Artist to decorate a canvas bag inspired by patterns from African cultures. This workshop will allow you to let your creativity loose using threads, beads, patterns and decoration. Once you have completed your bag you will be the most sustainable shopper on the high street! Suitable for ages 11 and over, children must be accompanied by an adult.
Tales and Trails
If you can't travel abroad this summer, why not have a go at our world trail around the museum from Greece to Egypt and even back in time there will be things to discover across all the continents.
Make your Ways to Play adventure a great value day out by travelling to our venues by the Metro, Ferry or Bus.
Up to three children aged 11 and under can travel for free on the Metro and the Shields Ferry with a fare-paying adult. Metro is the convenient, fast and frequent way to get to your favourite attractions and now it’s even more affordable.
