Important information for visitors
Museum closed 10-23 September 2018
The Great North Museum: Hancock is closed to visitors from Monday 10 – Sunday 23 September (inclusive).
It's been a fantastic summer and we hope you've enjoyed our museum-wide show Which Way North for the Great Exhibition of the North.
Sadly, the likes of Helen Sharman's space suit, John Lennon's piano and Damien Hirst's shark are leaving us soon and we will need to close the museum for two weeks to deinstall the exhibition. Temporary closure is the safest and quickest way to return the museum to normal.
If you use our library or society offices, you will still be able to access these facilities on most days, however the library is closed 12-14 September. Please enter via the side doors at the rear of the museum.
We reopen on Monday 24 September and return to our usual opening hours of 10am - 5pm Monday - Friday, 10am - 4pm Saturday and 11am - 4pm Sunday.
|Sunday 9 September||Open 10am - 6pm|
|Monday 10 - Sunday 23 September (inclusive)||CLOSED to the general public|
|Monday 24 September||Museum reopens at 10am|
